COMMISSION ON MONITORING OF ANTOCORRUPTION STRATEGY
IMPLEMENTATION SUMMARIZES SATISTICS OF CORRUPTION CRIMES

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 2, NOYAN TAPAN. In the first half of
2005, the Armenian law-enforcement bodies investigated 227
corruption crimes against 198 ones in the same period of last
year. At the November 2 meeting of the Commission on Monitoring
of Anticorruption Strategy, it was noted that the number of
embezzlement cases was the highest - 90, followed by official
forgeries (35 cases), false entrepreneurship (21), illegal
entrepreneurship (19) and abuse of official position (15).
The results of the official investigations conducted in the
civil service system and other services in the first half of
2005 were summarized at the meeting. A total of 554 official
investigations was conducted at the State Tax Service adjunct to
the RA government, State Customs Committee, National Security
Council, RA Police, Prosecutor's Office and Civil Service
Council, as a result of which 538 employees were subjected to
disciplinary or other liability. The results of 8 official
investigations or examinations were sent to investigation
bodies. During the same period, these bodies received 288
complaints regarding their employees' activities.
The Commission Chairman, Advisor to RA President on
corruption issues Bagrat Esayan expressed his satisfaction at
the fact that 3 experts will cooperate with the working groups
functioning in the Commission thanks to the grants allocated by
the World Bank.
