YEREVAN, August 10 (Noyan Tapan). The European Junior Championship on Chess held in the Turkish city of Urgup has completed. 670 representatives from many countries of the world participated in ten tournaments held simultaneously in five age groups. 14 boys and girls from Armenia also participated in the Championship. They performed in all age groups. 10-year old Robert Aghasarian from Yerevan performed successfully. He earned 7.5 out of possible 9 points and shared first-third places. R. Aghasarian placed first for the highest tournament coefficients. He acquired the title of the European champion and won a gold medal. In the 10-year age group Khachatour Yeranosian shared fourth-sixth places, earning seven points. Samvel Ter-Sahakian from Vanadzor also has high standings. The European champion of last year (he performed in the age group under 10 last year) performed this time in the 12-year age group. The chess-player earned 7.5 points and placed second. He was awarded with a silver medal. 14-year-old chess-player from Gyumri Varduhi Kalashian (fourth place), 16-year-old Zaven Andreasian from Yerevan (eighth place) and 18-year-old Liana Aghabekian from Vanadzor (ninth place) also successfully performed in this championship.
