CRIMINAL CASE FILED IN CONNECTION WITH ACT OF VIOLENCE
COMMITTED AGAINST RUZAN MINASIAN

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, NOYAN TAPAN. A criminal case has been
filed in connection with the act of violence committed against
Ruzan Minasian, a journalist of the editorial office of the
Daily "Aravot" (Morning), on October 11 with the indications of
the first part of Article 164 of the RA Criminal Code:
"Hindering professional legal activities of a journalist or
forcing him/her to spread or refuse to spread information." This
information was provided to a Noyan Tapan correspondent by the
Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Police. A
fine making a sum 50-150 times more than the minimum salary is
envisaged by the first part of the above-mentioned article.
According to official sources, an attack was made at the
editorial office of the Daily "Aravot" (Morning), which is
located in building 2 on the Yerevan Arshakuniats avenue at
about 14:00 on October 11: Knarik M. born in 1951, Mariam Tsch.
born in 1956, Tamara Gh. born in 1972, Ruzanna M. born in 1980,
Hasmik Y. born in 1957, and Aghavni M. born in 1959 entered the
editorial office of the newspaper, the study of Ruzan Minasian,
in particular, a journalist of the daily, who was born in 1963,
expressed their indignation with regard to the article
titled "One should not demand money from the dead", which was
published in the October 11 issue of the Daily, insulted her,
swore at her and brought forth procrastination.
According to the information provided to a Noyan Tapan
correspondent by journalist Ruzan Minasian, she passed a
forensic examination on October 12, the results of which will
soon be made public. It should be mentioned that the upper lip
of the journalist was injured during the procrastination.
