YEREVAN, OCTOBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. There is no institution
envisaged for mental backward parentless young people aged 18
and more in Armenia as a result of which they have to live in
state psychiatrical institutions. However, there are not
sufficient conditions in those institutions and they are not
suitable for young people having such problems, as the latters
are not mental patients. This statement was made by Ani
Gasparian, who is in charge for Public Relations of the
"Arakelutiun Hayastan" (Mission Armenia) charitable
non-governmental organization, at the event organized on October
10 on the occasion of the World Mental Health Day.
She also declared that the "Warm Corner" group house was
founded in Yerevan by the joint efforts of Natali Reiser, a
volunteer of the "US Peace Corp", and the above-mentioned
organization two years ago. It is the first non-state
institution in Armenia, which provides family atmosphere, offers
a long and complete rehabilitation care. At present, 6 young
people belonging to the above-mentioned group are living in the
"Warm Corner".
