SITTING OF COORDINATION COUNCIL OF CIS PROSECUTORS GENERAL
TO BE HELD IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, NOYAN TAPAN. The sitting of the
Coordination Council of the Prosecutors General of the CIS
member states will take place in Yerevan on October
9. According to the information provided to a Noyan Tapan
correspondent by Sona Truzian, the Spokesperson of the RA
Prosecutor General, about ten issues are included on the
agenda, including issues concerning the development process of a
common system of statistics and registration of crimes, the
cooperation between Prosecutor General's Offices of the CIS
member states in the struggle against trafficking, the issue
concerning the protection of human rights, as well as the
implementation process of other resolutions passed by the
Coordination Council before. The issue concerning trafficking
was included on the agenda by the suggestion of the RA
Prosecutor General, who will make a speech concerning that issue
in the sitting. Signing of documents is also envisaged during
the sitting.
The delegations of the Prosecutor General's Offices of all
the member states of the Council, except Azerbaijan, will take
part in the sitting of the Coordination Council to be held in
Yerevan. The Deputy Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan will also
take part in the sitting with the status of an observer: the
above-mentioned country is not a member of the Council.
The Coordination Council of the Prosecutors General of the
CIS member states has been operating since 1995. It conducts its
activities based on the principles set by the CIS fundamental
documents. The Coordination Council was given the status of an
interstate institution by the decision of the heads of the CIS
member states on January 25, 2000. The main goal of the
Coordination Council is to contribute to the undertaking of the
protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms,
strengthening of legality, as well as joint and collaborated
activities of the prosecutor general's offices of the CIS member
states in the struggle against crime. It is also aimed at the
development of suggestions with regard to making the national
legislations closer to each other, as well as at the improvement
of the CIS legislative base.
