YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, NOYAN TAPAN. The bill on amendments and
additions to the Rules of Procedure of the RA National Assembly
was discussed at the September 28 sitting of the RA National
Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Issues. The bill
was presented by its co-author, the chairwoman of the Standing
Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Soprt Issues
Hranush Hakobian.
The bill in particulat envisages stipulating that the
"medical aid and services of a National Assembly deputy are
organized under the annual state target programs on health
care." The government objected to this provision.
H. Hakobian said that she continues to be of the opinion
that state officials have to undergo a medical examination every
year. "Nevertheless, in order not to create additional tension,
the authors decided not to include this provision yet - after
consulting with the minister of justice," she said. In
connection with possible speculations in the public, H. Hakobian
noted that "well-off" deputies have no need to undergo medical
examination under state programs as they do so in the US, France
and Germany.
