ARMENIAN ALBUM RECEIVES GRAND PRIX AT MOSCOW BOOK

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 14, NOYAN TAPAN. A large album under the
title "Old Armenian Manuscripts" published at Yerevan's Tigran
Mets publishing house received Grand Prix for best publishing at
the Book Art 4th international competition held at the Moscow
Book 20th international exhibition-fair on September 5-10. The
album was printed with the sponsorship of Catholicos of All
Armenians Karekin II. Its authors, T. Guyumjian, G. Leman, and
M. Stone, included in the album Armenian manuscripts kept in
depositories of ancient manuscripts of Yerevan, Jerusalem,
Mkhitarian Congregation of Venice, and in other places. Eduard
Militonian, the Head of the Publishing Work Agency of the RA
Ministry of Culture, reported this at the September 13 press
conference.
E. Militonian also said that besides the Grand Prix, the
Armenian books also received prizes for their best printing
quality in two nominations (the competition had nine
nominations). Nairi publishing house's album under the title
"Miniature Painting" (in French) received the first prize in the
Art Book nomination. Henrik Igitian's album "Minas From Jajur"
published by the Tigran Mets publishing house received the third
prize in the same nomination. Sargis Haroutiunian's illustrated
book "The Myths and Legends of Armenia" (in Russian) published
by the Arevik publishing house received the third prize in the
nomination Book to Children.
E. Militonian said that in total 2200 organizations took
part in the Moscow Book Exhibition, and 150 thousand titles of
books were presented. Armenia was represented by three pavilions
at the exhibition, that of the Publishing Work Agency of the RA
Ministry of Culture, of the Antares publishing house, and of
Armenian Book Spreaders Association.
