YEREVAN, OCTOBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. The 27th conference of
the Justice Ministers of member states of the Council of Europe
will start its works in Yerevan on October 12. It will be
dedicated this time to the rights of injured parties.
Davit Haroutiunian, the RA Justice Minister attached
importance at the October 11 press conference to the
above-mentioned problem as injured parties, in his words, are
more vulnerable not only at the moment of the crime, but also
during the court procedure and after it. At the conference,
representatives of the Council of Europe member states will
exchange opinions on the issue and will make an attempt to find
joint solutions.
Guy De Vel, the Council of Europe Director General for
Legal Affairs mentioned that the 5th anniversary of Armenia's
membership to the Council of Europe will be marked in January of
the current year, and by organizing the conference in Armenia,
the cooperation established with Armenia long ago is continued.
He mentioned that Armenia implemented the majority of its
obligations before the Council of Europe, particularly, very
important steps were taken recently in the direction of the
constitutional reforms and working out of laws. "Armenia takes
progressive steps," Guy De Vel said, at the same time
emphasizing that there is still much to do in the issue of
brining laws in correspondence with the European standards.
