ETCHMIADZIN, OCTOBER 6, NOYAN TAPAN. Relations of Armenia and Romania develop in warm and close friendly atmosphere. Karekin II Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians mentioned about it on October 5, receiving President of Romania Traian Basescu at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. According to the information submitted to Noyan Tapan by the Information Services of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Catholicos expressed his gratitude on the occasion of widening the European Union and Romania's joining the EU. Welcoming the President of Romania at the spiritual center of all Armenians, Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness said: "It is the continuation of those warm ties which have existed between our peoples starting from the early Middle Ages. And it is pleasant for us that the Armenian community lives there with very active life and Armenians living in Romania have an important contribution in life of Romania with their devoted service." The Catholicos of All Armenians recollected in his speech years of enthornement of late Vazgen I 130th Patriarch of All Armenians also born and got citizenship in Romania as well as the role of the late Patriarch in the affair of improvement of the Mother See. In his turn, T.Basescu attached importance to the role of spiritual values, religions as well as interchurch and interreligious dialogues in the affair of solution of problems arisen before the mankind. The President of Romania mentioned that he has great respect towards the Armenian people's history. and emphasized that Armenia, as a Christian state, has its place only near European Christian states.
