YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 28, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. For
Stable Human Development Armenian Association has been given a
special consultation status of UN Economic and Social Council.
As Valery Tkachuk, representative of UN Public Information
Department in Armenia, said at the September 28 press
conference, Economic and Social Council is the central body that
coordinates economic and social activity of all UN structures.
In his words, the Association is the first NGO to receive such a
high status.
Karine Danielian, Chairwoman of For Stable Human
Development Armenian Association, said that henceforth the
Association has the right to be present at the sittings of the
Economic and Social Council and to spread its written opinion
among official delegates. She mentioned that the Association
has been functioning in Armenia for more than 10 years. In
K.Danielian's words, in this period the Association implemented
about 20 projects on nature protection and stable development
problems, published many books, booklets, magazines, organized
seminars, conferences and exhibitions, organized tree-planting
and improvement activities. Besides, a social protest action
was organized against anti-ecological actions, as well as
efficient work was done in the educational sphere for the
purpose of stable development.
