YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 25, NOYAN TAPAN. Armenia is loyal to its commissions and is for exclusively peaceful use of nuclear energy. Head of the Armenian delegation, RA Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakosian declared this at the 50th jubilee conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held the other day in Vienna. He said that RA government seriously discusses the prospect of retaining its membership to the world international community and parallelly with closing the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant studies the possibility of building a new nuclear power plant. In his speech A.Kirakosian expressed gratitude to IAEA and all countries with which Armenia has been efficiently cooperating since relaunching the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant in 1995. According to the report submitted to Noyan Tapan from RA Foreign Ministry Press and Information Department, IAEA's future programs aimed at promoting secure use of nuclear energy and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons were discussed during the conference. Armenia actively cooperates with U.S. and a number of countries in the sphere of nuclear energy.
