YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 15, NOYAN TAPAN. The youth program
entitled "Generation of Independence" will be implemented on
September 16, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of
independence of Armenia, on the initiative of the "Areg"
Scientific-Cultural Youth Association" and "Center of Social
Technologies" NGOs. "Areg" Chairman Gerasim Barseghian stated
about it at the September 14 press conference.
In G.Barseghian's words, today many of Armenian young
people are not aware of the historic-cultural values of the
country, and the idea of patriotism did not strike yet roots in
the their souls. Cognitive visits to the historic-cultural
places of Armenia are envisaged by the program for about 150
students of different institutions of higher education of
Armenia. The six main directions of the visits will involve all
the marzes of the republic. Works of cleaning the visited
territories and open-air seminars entitled "Get to Know Your
Fatherland" will be organized during the visits.
Historian Artak Movsisian will hold the open-air seminars.
In his words, today a first year student does not know who
Movses Khorenatsi or Mesrop Mashtots is. In his words, it is
necessary not only to admire historic monumets but also to know
history of their creation. "I would like that similar events
become compulsory for all institutions of higher education as
one must see, get to know and love the Fatherland," A.Movsisian
mentioned.
G.Barseghian also informed that the conference entitled
"15-Year Old Armenia: Achievements, Challenges, Prospects" will
be held within the framework of the program in early November.
Best students of different higher educational institutions will
participate in the conference. The conference reports and essays
telling about cognitive visits will be involved in the book
dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the RA independence which
will be published in November.
The program will be implemented by grants being allocated
to public organization from the RA state budget with the
assistance of the Center for Public Dialogue and Development.
