NUMBER OF APPLICATION-COMPLAINTS TO RECEIVE RA OMBUDSMAN'S
POSITIVE SOLUTION IS ON INCREASE

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 15, NOYAN TAPAN. In the period of February 20 to August 31, the RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunian received 1,794 application-compalints, including 854 written ones. 62 written applications were collective complaints from 1,973 applicants. 121 out of the 854 written applications received positive solutions. A. Harutyunian stated this at the September 14 press conference dedicated to the completion of the first six months of his term of office. According to him, the former ombudswoman received 2,600 written application-complaints during her 2-year term of office, with 58 applications receiving positive solutions. A. Harutyunian attributed this increase in the number of application-complaints with a positive soultion by the fact that during these six months he was guided by the principle of cooperation rather than contradiction with various state and local self-government bodies. The ombudsman said that as a result of examination of 854 written application-complaints, 297 applications were taken into consideration, 118 applicants were advised on protection of their rights and freedoms, 54 applications were transferred to other bodies for examination, 325 applications were not taken into consideration, 9 ones were not discussed at the request of the applicants, and 51 application-compalints are currently being examined. Out of the written application-complaints against state and local self-government bodies, 106 were related to courts, 95 - to Yerevan mayor's office, 71 - the police, 61 - the Justice Ministry, 60 - Yerevan municipalities, 55 - the prosecutor's office, 38 - the Ministry of Labor and Social Issues, 31 - the Defence Ministry, 30 - marzpetarans (regional administrations), 23 - the State Committee of the Real Estate Cadastre, and 284 applications - to other state bodies.
