IT DAC PROPOSES REVIEWING STATE DUTIES FOR LICENSING OF
TELECOMMUNICATION SECTOR'S ACTIVITY

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. At the September 12 of
the IT Development Assisting Council (DAC), which was conducted
by the Council Chairman, Prime Minister Andranik Margarian, a
number of proposals were discussed, particularly those for
making amendments to the RA Law on Electronic Communication,
defining the spheres of licensing in the telecommuniaction
sector, compiling the list of types of activities subject to
licensing, and reviewing the amount of state duties and other
compulsory payments for licensing and provision of radio
frequencies.
To recap, in accordance with the amendments to the RA Law
on Licensing, the annual amount of state duty for a licence of
operating an electronic communication network in Yerevan and one
or several marzes makes 3 mln drams (about 7.1 thousand USD), or
3,000 basic duties, of operating a network in Yerevan - 2 mln
drams, in more than one marz not including Yerevan - 1 mln drams
and in a marz - 500 thousand drams.
According to the RA Government Information and PR
Department, the council's working group on legal regulation
examined the legal acts on regulation of electronic
communication, provision of radio frequences and on licensing in
the IT sector, and the practice of their use. Joint meeting of
the IT DAC legal regulation, strategic and telecommunication
working groups were held in order to identify problems related
to legislative regulation in the IT sector.
