ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT AND SUN MIRCOSYSTEMS TO SIGN
COOPERATION AGREEMENT ON SEPTEMBER 20

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 9, NOYAN TAPAN. The Armenian government
and the IT company Sun Microsystems (US) will sign a cooperation
agreement on September 20 during the second Armenia-Diaspora
economic forum. Bagrat Yengibarian, Director of the Enterprise
Incubator Foundation, stated this at the September 8 press
conference.
According to him, under the agreement Sun Microsystems will
assist Armenia with the creation a radio frequency
identification laboratory and an equipment integration
laboratory, as well as educational laboratories on JAVA
technologies at three Armenian universities. B. Yengibarian said
that until now the company has founded only one radio frequency
identification laboratory in a CIS country - that in Saint
Petersburg. The laboratory to be created in Armenia will enable
to implement educational programs and perform research orders.
The equipment integration laboratory will have computer systems
and powerful servers allowing to perform orders on IT equipment
creation and to make integration and expert examination of
production of Armenian IT companies. "This lab will provide us
with the opportunity to raise the rating of Armenian companies
in the IT sector," B. Yengibarian underlined.
To recap, Sun Microsystems is a world leader in the
manufacture of computer equipment and software. It is
headquartered in Silicon Valley, the USA. In late 2005, the
company employed 31 thousand people throughout the world. In
2004, its capital made 338 bln USD, and sales amounted to 11 bln
185 mln USD.
