84.5% OF REGISTERED CRIMES DISClOSED IN ARMENIA IN 2005

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, NOYAN TAPAN. 84.5% of the registered
crimes were disclosed in Armenia in 2005 (84.7% in 2004),
including 84.5% of crimes under criminal investigation (83.7% in
2004), 77.2% of grave and particularly grave crimes (80.1% in
2004). Deputy Chief of the RA Police Hovhannes Hunanian stated
at the February 10 press conference that there was a
considerable improvement in the index of disclosing such crimes
posing a great danger to the society as crimes with the use of
firearms - 68.9% (64.6% in 2004) and murders and attempted
murders - 82.8% (80% in 2004).
In comparison with 2004, the efficiency of crime solution
was improved for a number of crimes under criminal investigation:
the intentional causing of heavy damage to health (82.2% -
86.9%), crimes against sexual immunity (88.9% - 94.9%),
including rapes (80.0% - 93.3%), banditry (63.2% - 65.6%),
huliganism (97.2% - 97.4%), property embezzlement (88.6% -
88.9%), theft of means of transport (69.9% - 72.5%) and road
accidents with fatal outcome (81.9% - 89%). Some decline in the
crime solution indices was registered for such crimes as robbery
(81.5% - 74.7%), theft (77.1% - 75.0%) and fraud (88.8% -
88.7%).
The index of solution of criminal cases suspended in the
previous years increased by 186 or 18% in 2005.
