8.6 BLN DRAMS SPENT ON SPHERE OF EDUCATION IN YEREVAN IN

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2O, NOYAN TAPAN. 8.6 bln drams (about
19.1 mln US dollars) have beem spent on the sphere of education
in Yerevan since the beginning of the year. As Kamo Areyan, the
Deputy Mayor of Yerevan stated at the December 19
press-conference, works of fundamental reconstruction,
restoration of boiler-houses and building restorations of 1.2
bln drams were implemented in 22 schools by allocations of the
state budget this year. And works of fundamental reconstruction
of 550 mln drams were implemented by the means of the Social
Invetsments Fund in 15 schools.
According to K.Areyan, 53 mln drams collected in budget of
the city expenses of Yerevan were given for building
boiler-houses, re-operation and repairing of the inner net of 3
schools of the communities of Malatia-Sebastia and Arabkir.
According to him, about 15 mln drams financial assistance was
given to about 12 schools as well which have financial deficits
during the year.
The Deputy Mayor also mentioned that 42 schools of the
capital have already been provided by own boiler-houses of local
heating.
K.Areyan stated that 10 bln drams are allocated to the
sphere of education by the 2006 state budget about 1 bln 200 mln
drams of which are envisaged for fundamental restoration works
of 15 schools under the control of the Yerevan Mayor's Office.
It was mentioned that the next year restoration works will be
implemented by means of the Social Investments Fund in 5 schools
of the capital. Besides, according to the preliminary data,
other 9 schools of Yerevan will be involved in the second
program of the Lincy Fund.
