COOPERATION AGREEMENT TO BE SIGNED BETWEEN RUSSIAN AND
ARMENIAN NATIONAL ACADEMIES OF SCIENCES

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, NOYAN TAPAN. An agreement concerning
holding joint scientific researches was signed between the
National Academies of Russia and Armenia in Yerevan on December
3. As Yuri Shukurian, the Deputy Chairman of the RA National
Academy of Sciences mentioned at the discussion which took place
at the RA NIS, 65 scientific themes concerning different spheres
of science (informatics, mechanics, biophysics, etc) are
included in the agreement. According to him, signing of the
agreement will give a new start to the Russian-Armenian
cooperation of centuries in the scientific sphere. According to
Y.Shukurian, joint wide-spread scientific researches are
envisaged to implement especially in the sphere of humanities.
Nikolay Platte, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian National
Academy of Sciences estimated the Russian-Armenian scientific
cooperation as positive. According to him, the scientific
cooperation of the two countries didn't stop even during the
difficult years of 90s of the previous century. "We appreciate
the scientific potential of Armenia," N. Platte mentioned. He
mentioned poor financial means as the only obstacle of the
scietific cooperation between the two countries. According to
N.Platte not enouth financing is given to science both in Russia
and Armenia.
