ARMENIAN SCHOOLS TO PASS ON TO 12-YEAR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, NOYAN TAPAN. 2 types of first forms
will be formed at all Armenian schools since the next schoolyear
in connection with passing on to a 12-year educational system.
As Norayr Ghukasian, RA Deputy Minister of Education and
Science, informed during the November 11 consultation of Yerevan
school headmasters, children born by 2001 December 31 will be
admitted to the 6-years-old age group and children aged 6 and
half years and above will be admitted to the next group. The
pupils of the first age group will be moved up from the first
form into the second and those of the next group at once into
the third group. Children of second, third, fourth and the rest
of the forms will be moved up a form higher. In 2012 the
Armenian schools will have the first leavers of the 12-year-old
educational system.
According to the Deputy Minister, the curriculums and
text-books will be changed only for first-form pupils in 2006
and the others will continue learning with their old text-books.
And the new curriculums and text-books worked out by the
specialists of National Institute of Education under RA Ministry
of Education and Science will be applied gradually.
