YEREVAN, February 7 (Noyan Tapan). Businessman from the US Khachik Khachikian, the President of the "Vision Quest Production" company, issued an application to the RA government for the privatization of the "Armenfilm" TV studio. According to him, he is ready to buy the studio with the territory of 40 hectares of 1.5 mln dollars and invest 100 mln dollars. If the Armenian government accepts his offer, the construction of the new building of the studio will begin next year and will last 5 years. In conformity with Khachikian's project, the studio will be built and supplied with the up-to-date equipment. The complex will consist of 10 camera pavilions, a trade center, a hotel, an alley with the busts of prominent Armenian cinematographers. A cinema school, which will cooperate with the leading cinema schools of the US and Europe, will also operate here. As of "Armenfilm" Film Fund, according to Khachikian, it will be preserved and reconstructed. "I want to turn "Armenfilm" into small Hollywood," the businessman said. The businessman expects that the film studio will annually produce 5-6 films, and "Armenfilm" will become the only film studio in the region, which will be able to invite famous foreign film-makers. Kachikian also mentioned that 2,500-3,000 people will work at the studio.
