YEREVAN, November 29 (Noyan Tapan). The Theater after
Henrik Malyan of the "Hayfilm" studio was participating in the
Third International Theater Festival held in the Iranian city of
Ispahan November 15-19. The "Tales" of Hovhannes Toumanyan
staged by the theater staff has received eight prizes in the
following nominations: best producer, best performance, best
actresses, best actors, best music, best costume design, best
stage design, and best booklet, Artistic Director of the theater
Narine Malyan told reporters November 26.
Participating in the festival were also theater companies
from Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. "All the companies had brought
good performances, but our main contender was the one from
Afghanistan. Before the last day, we were sure they were going
to win, the artistic director said. She believes they attracted
the Iranian theater-goers with their interesting and gentle
playstyle. "We managed to convey Toumanyan's word and Malyan's
staging art to them." Moreover, the performance was played
without translation.
The "Tales" that was first staged by well-known film
director Henrik Malyan 24 years ago, is still fresh. Since then
this performance has been played about 1,500 times.
