On April 12 the National Assembly by 80 votes “for” and 1 “against” and 1 “hands off” confirmed the 5 protocol signed on August 20, 2010 in Yerevan between the Republic of Armenia and Russia about the changes in the treaty signed on March16,1995 between the Republic of Armenia and Russia about Russian military base in RA. So, it is established that the Russian military base, except protecting the interests of Russian Federation together with Armenian military forces also provides security of RA. For that purpose Russian side should provide with modern armament and military techniques. Besides, the date of Russian military base in Armenia is prolonged. According to 1995 treaty it has become 49 years instead of 25 years.
