Styopa Safaryan, leader of the Zharangutyun (Heritage) parliamentary party urged the RA Parliament on Tuesday to pass the Zharangutyun-initiated bill on the recognition of the Nagonro-Karabakh Republic’s independence. The bill will be on the Parliament’s extra agenda on October 5. According to the MP, Karabakh has been the prisoner of non-recognition for 20 years, though, like other post-Soviet states, it has declared its independence and autonomy quite legitimately. Pointing out Karabakh’s defended and controlled autonomous area, peaceful and creative people, the legitimately-elected government and capacity to be involved in international relations, Safaryan said the three presidents of Armenia did not recognize Artsakh’s independence, continuing one after another the negotiation process without Karabakh’s participation and missed lots of chances to achieve Artsakh’s independence. No other country but Armenia is interested in the recognition of Karabakh’s independence, the MP added.
