Armenian government discusses Candle center project

YEREVAN, JUNE 23, NOYAN TAPAN. A third-generation
3-GEV synchrotron source of light will be launched in Armenia
under the Candle project. It will promote advanced research in
fundamental science, serve as a base of expertise, and ensure a
qualitatively new level of international cooperation.
At the June 22 meeting of the Candle Project Coordinating
Council, the council head, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said
that the government made a political decision to co-finance the
project in case of assistance to the project by private
investors.
The meeting participants discussed the project's current
status, the business plan, and the main points of the business
impact assessment survey. They also discussed a number of
proposals concerning the center's location, status and
organization. They took note of the report on the upcoming visit
of international experts to Armenia on June 29-30.
