Being the partner of numerous international organizations (UN, UN Global Compact, ILO, International organization of employers(IOE), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)) RUEA promotes environmental protection, “Green economy and“green workplaces” principles and requirements in Armenia.RUEA announces awards on “Toward a green economy” and invitesArmenian enterprises to participate in this important event in order to improve their awareness about“green economy”, environmental protection, regulation of waste and emission processes.
Within the framework of theevent, RUEA cooperates with RA Ministry of Nature Protection (official letter N51569, 05/04/2012 ), UN Yerevan office and International Labour organization (ILO).
The participating organization must meet at least 2 of the conditions below:
• Presence of department (or person) responsible for the environmental protection issues
• presence of internal regulations (approved standards on the quantity of emissions to atmospheric air and water basin )
• reprocessing of wastes and destructive functions(sighed agreement with authorized body)
• existence ofISO 14001:2004 standard
• retraining of staff on regular basis
• payments for environmental costs to the central and local budget
• implementation of promoting projects on “Green economy”
• use of alternative energy in the organization
• development and publishing of books (or brochures) on environmental issues
• financial support and promotion of educational projects in environment field
• existence of green workplaces
• implementation of 7 Steps Project for the promotion of environment protection and development of culture in the organization
The following enterprises are eligibleto participate in the awards:
1. Small enterprises
2. Medium enterprises
3. Large enterprises
4. Multi-profile holdings
The organizations will receive:
• Experience exchange and best practices on “green economy” and “green workplaces” will be organized through the intermediacy of RUEA,
• RUEA specialists will implement analyses in the participant organizationson risk assessment of waste, atmospheric air and water pollution, as well as study of“green economy” and “green workplaces”.
• RUEA will support interested organizations to sign agreements for reprocessing of waste.
• A conference on “Green Economy” and “green workplaces” will take place, where the best practices will be presented. The localization of international experience will be put forward. The participant organizations will take part in the event for free.
• The organizations will get a comprehensive analytical report(diagnostic assessment), which contains information on the current situation in their organizations, as well as the deviations from the requirements and norms. Besides, this report will contain, consultingof RUEA experts aimed to eliminate shortcomings, as well as information on issues that are subject to inspection. The participants and winners will receive certificates.
The first prize is implementation of ISO 14001:2004 standard or 7 Steps Project in the organizations, aiming to promote environment protection and culture development.
The results of “Towards a green economy” awards will be summarized during a one-day Conference to be held in the period of 25-28 September 2012, where corresponding State bodies of Armenia, RUEA partners, international experts, employers and mass media will be present.The Conference will comprise discussions, presentations and reports.
The first announcement of the awards will be carried out through RUEA website (www.employers.am), as well as email notifications. The event startson 17 July 2012.

Assessments and diagnostic analyses in the organizations will be carried out simultaneous to collection of applications.
