On January 17, the Political Science Association of Armenia held a Convention. The Association’s Executive Director Benyamin Poghosyan reported on its activities for the period of 2012-2013. The Political Science Association of Armenia has been active in the development of political science in the country. In the reporting period the Association as a co-organizer participated in the organization of four Strategic Policy Forums and International Conferences, including the February-2012 International Conference “The 20th Anniversary of the NKR’s Independence: Realities and Perspectives” in Stepanakert, the Strategic Policy Forum “Regional Security Dynamics in the South Caucasus” of November 2013 in Yerevan, the Second Strategic Policy Forum “Political and Security Guidelines for the Formation of the Military Component of the CSTO”  taken place in Yerevan, in June 2013,  and  the International Conference in Stepanakert dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Artsakh National Liberation Movement in October 2013. During the reporting period the Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, has launched a compilation of the Armenian–Russian–English, Russian–Armenian, English–Armenian Glossaries of defence-security terms. The 3000-word-and-term pilot Glossary is in the print house, and the release of the 12000-word-and-term Glossary is to be released in 2014. In 2012, the PSAA in collaboration with the US Alumni Association of Armenia published the brochure “Guidelines of Professional Ethics for Political Scientists”. 

 

After discussing the report, the Convention initiated the election of the Association’s management bodies. Doctor of Political Science Artur Atanesyan, Doctor of History Arsen Avagyan, PhD in Political Science Abraham Gasparyan, PhD in Political Science Artak Zakaryan, Doctor of History Arman Kirakosyan, Doctor of History Nikolay Hovhannisyan, Doctor of Political Science Mariam Margaryan, Doctor of Psychology Vazgen Margaryan, Doctor of Political Science Alexander Markarov, Doctor of Political Science Sergey Minasyan, PhD in Technical Science Hovik Musayelyan, Doctor of Political Science Levon Shirinyan, PhD in History Benyamin Poghosyan, PhD in History Vahram Ter-Matevosyan, Doctor of Political Science Garik Keryan, Doctor of Political Science Hayk Kotanjian were elected as Board Members. 

Doctor of Political Science Hayk Kotanjian, Doctor of Political Science Mariam Margaryan, and PhD in History Benyamin Poghosyan correspondingly were re-elected    as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of the Association. The Convention made an Announcement “On the Azerbaijani Authorities’ Policy of Distorting the Truth about the Anti-Armenian Pogroms and Subsequent Deployment of Troops in Baku in January 1990” in the run-up to the mass events distorting the historical facts of January 20 in Azerbaijan.
