PARIS, APRIL 23, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. "By denying
the Armenian Genocide, Israel betrays the memory of the
Holocaust victims," Prof. Yair Oron of Israel said, when
delivering a speech at the conference "Armenia-Turkey: How to
Normalize Relations" in Paris.
In his words, Israel is being guided by double standards:
on the one hand it struggles against the Holocaust denial, on
the other hand it not only denies the Armenian Genocide, but
also contributes to the denial of that historical fact. "This
will harm the recognition of the Holocaust in the future," Y.
Oron noted.
"Everybody will agree that Israel has no right to make the
Holocaust a subject of trade. Moreover, it has no right to do so
with respect to any other country. Yet, Israel has adopted this
approach to the Armenian Genocide issue," Oron said. Speaking
about the discussions on the Genocide held in the Knesset in
2007, 2008, and 2009, he said that these discussions failed, and
in his opinion, the same would happen this year, Yerkir
reported.
