YEREVAN, MARCH 19, NOYAN TAPAN. The studies and
consultations conducted by the RA government showed that
Moscow cinema's summer hall is an "architectural value with
original architectural solutions but is not a historic-cultural
value." On that basis the government made a decision to remove
the construction from the list of Armenia's historic-cultural
values. RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian declared at the March
17 meeting between the NA and government staff when questions
were asked.
"The government took into consideration the request of
NGOs, owners, many people, including the Mother See of Holy
Echmiadzin," the RA Prime Minister said and added: "I am
convinced that as a result of the debates the NGOs and the
Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin will arrive at an acceptable
solution also satisfying our society."
It should be mentioned that there is an intention to build
a church in the place of Moscow cinema's summer hall, the
Poghos-Petros Church was nearly in the mentioned place and was
completely destroyed in the 1930-s.
