At the initiative of Ayb School, on December 14, international The Hour of Code event was held at the school. This event was organized for the first time in Armenia, with the joint support from VivaCell-MTS, UITE and Microsoft.
The international event The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching more than 100 million from over 180 countries. Around 45 thousands schools participate at this global event. It gathers under one roof the lovers of technology, games and programming. The event is an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of various programming languages and approaches. The participants are not required to know any programing language prior to taking part in the Hour of Code event.
The idea behind organizing the global event is grounded on the belief that every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st century career path. The only requirement is that the participants should be conversant in English and should have a laptop or a tablet with them. The pupils of elementary schools have also shown interest in the event.
Any school can host an Hour of Code anytime, but the grassroots campaign goal is for tens of millions of students to try an Hour of Code during December 8-14, 2014, in celebration of Computer Science Education Week.
VivaCell-MTS supported with implementing the initiative the Hour of Code in Armenia for the first time out of the strong belief that knowledge gained during the school years remains for a lifetime. The readiness of the Company to provide new quality to the educational programs has an important mission. It will increase the willingness to discover and to create something new among those, who are engaged in the programming science.
