YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, NOYAN TAPAN. If no extraordinary events occur within the next few days, RA President Serzh Sargsyan will attend the Turkey-Armenia match in Bursa on October 14. Stating this at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport on October 12 after returning from his short working visit to Moscow, S. Sargsyan remarked that there are sifficient prerequisites for his trip to Turkey. "In general, I attach special importance to the principle of mutuality in relations. Turkish President Mr. Gul responded to my invitation and came to Armenia, and now I do not see any serious reasons for declining his invitation," he said. To recap, at the time S. Sargsyan had said that he would go to Turkey if "the border is open or we are on the eve of that". S. Sargsyan considered as strange the statements that Turkey's prime minister and foreign minister made the day before to the effect Turkish parliament will not ratify the Armenia-Turkey protocols signed in Zurich. "If the Turks are not going to ratify the protocols, then why did they sign them? Perhaps they think that we may lack will and make a retreat. Maybe. Today the ball is on Turkey's pitch, and we have enough patience to wait for further events. We have publicly announced our steps and we will move in that direction without hesitation. If the Turks ratify the protocols and start in accordance with the established schedule, we will continue the process, if they do not ratify, we will not feel constrained and will do what we declared," he said. As regards his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Kishinev, S. Sargsyan said the issue of the territories' return had not been discussed. "He is dissatisfied with the course of negotiations and their results because we discussed only two issues: the ultimate status of Nagorno Karabakh and its iterim status. If he is displeased, I cannot help him in this issue," S. Sargsyan said.
