For the 1st time Michelin Star Chef Edwin Soumang, the owner of “restaurant ONE” (the Netherlands) visited Armenia during “Sherep” restaurant’s anniversary celebration. Edwin Soumang's debut visit to Armenia was organized by “Yeremyan Projects” in the framework of Yerevan Food Fest.

“Sherep” conceptual restaurant, opened in 2017, celebrated its one-year anniversary on the 2nd of November 2018. On this celebratory date, in the restaurant’s open kitchen, the two culinary artists - Michelin-star Chef Edwin Soumang and "Sherep" Chef Garik Khachatryan - presented a special set menu in “Four Hands Dinner” format: very well-known in the world of gastronomy where two chefs come together to create an unforgettable “symphony of taste”. Exclusively Armenian products were used to prepare dishes from the set menu. Before food preparation Chef Edwin Soumang together with Sherep Chef Garik Khachatryan visited market to get acquainted with local vegetables and fruits, and Edwin Soumang selected all the products by himself. Fresh ingredients and new technologies were used during cooking.

Set menu was a novelty for “Sherep” customers. Michelin Star Chef Edwin Soumang and “Sherep” Chef Garik Khachatryan presented set menu that consisted of 1 appertizer, 3 types of hot dish and 2 desserts. Before opening the main menu, the guests tried small dishes, called "Welcome from kitchen", as a present from chefs.

Edwin Soumang’s Armenian visit was a continuation of a beautiful tradition, initiated by “Sherep” restaurant, which regularly invites and welcomes chefs from different countries into its kitchen. Such collaborative projects create invaluable opportunity to broaden culinary horizons, exchange experiences and to get acquainted with new cooking techniques and kitchen challenges. At the end of every such project, the visiting chef dedicated their most coveted dish (their signature dish) to “Sherep” restaurant.

Michelin-star Chef Edwin Soumang carried on the tradition by making a special anniversary dish for “Sherep” restaurant. The “sherep” (Armenian for ladle) is symbolic in the great world of gastronomy, therefore at the end of the evening Chefs Edwin Soumang and Garik Khachatryan exchanged ladles (shereps), symbolizing the end of a great collaboration.

"Sherep" is one of the “Yeremyan Projects” restaurants and is entirely different from its other projects. It is the first restaurant in Yerevan with a large, open kitchen. Such format gives customers opportunity to follow the whole process of their order preparation, and, of course, it increases the trust level. Sherep’s menu doesn’t belong in any national cuisine, but it suggests a delicious set of the most interesting dishes from different cultures. "Sherep" restaurant also regularly invites chefs from different countries.

Michelin Stars are awarded for food excellence in restaurants (ranging from one to three stars). Michelin stars are a feature of the Michelin Guide books, which were first published in France by Andre Michelin. In 1900 the first Michelin Guide listed a wealth of information, which included where to find meals. Today, Michelin Stars are awarded sparingly to a small number of restaurants of outstanding quality.
