A film dedicated to Karlen Nurijanyan presents the sculptor's merit and contribution to Armenian culture.

The premiere of "Karlen Nurijanyan" documentary took place on October 13 at Moscow Cinema. The producer of the movie is Petros Lagesyan, the author of the idea of the film is Nurijanyan's nephew Ara Adamyan.

Karlen Nurijanyan's mission was to pass on heroic stories to future generations․In this context, the sculptor made Vahagn Vishapakagh (Vahagn the Dragon Slayer,1968), Hayk Nahapet (1970), Tork Angegh (1982) and other works that reflect the strength of the Armenian people.

When you read the legends about the heroes of the past, the outlines of Hayk or Vahagn, created by Nurijanyan, appear involuntarily. But his name never became well-known in Armenia and abroad, although Karlen Nurijanyan's sculptures have always been symbols of many Armenian organizations.

RA People's Artist Levon Tokmajyan, President of the Union of Artists of Armenia Suren Safaryan, soloist, Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR Rashid Karapetyan, sculptor Nerses Charkhchyan, painter, sculptor, director of Alaverdi Gallery Rafael Javakhyan, art critic Armen Arustamyan, painter Tigran Tsitoghdzyan, cellist, RA Honored Artist Narek Hakhnazaryan, Nurijanyan's nephew Ara Adamyan tell the story of Karlen Nurijanyan. They present Nurijanyan's difficult path, tell about his unfulfilled plans, especially about the outstanding "Alley of Myths".

"Our goal was not only to pay tribute to the sculptor through the movie but also to make his name more recognizable. An artist who is known by few, but who has a big impact in Armenian culture, whose sculptures are valuable jewels of our country," - the authors of the film say.

The presentation of the documentary was accompanied by the performances of RA Honored Artist Narek Hakhnazaryan.

It should be noted that the large monument created by Nurijanyan and dedicated to Movses Khorenatsi has disappeared, and the authors of the film urge all those who have information about the statue to pass it to them. The creators of the film hope to find this unique monument as well.
