Lithuanian solar energy company Solet Technics has initiated two projects in Armenia with cooperation THE OHM ENERGY. The combined capacity of the two power plants will be just over 460 kilowatts and the electricity generated by the solar power plant will be used by nineteen public institutions located in Armenia: schools, children and youth centers, and different communities.
The project is being funded by the Climate Change Programme, which is administered by the Environmental Projects Management Agency (EPMA). Almost a third of the funds – over EUR 170,924 – are being provided by Solet Technics and its partners.
According to the “THE OHM ENERGY” CFO Hrant Gnuni, it is estimated that the solar power plant will produce approximately 704,956 kWh per year. This will ensure over 100 percent of the electricity currently being consumed at these establishments.
“As of now, the schools, and children and youth centers, kindergartens are using electricity from the power grid, as well as natural gas and diesel for heating. The solar power plant will help them meet their educational and community development goals and will also inevitably contribute to the preservation of the environment and improvement of the quality of life. We believe that the installation of this power plant will stimulate the process of introducing renewable energy sources throughout the country,” says Mr. Karazinas the CEO of Solet Technics.
According to the CFO, project implementation works started in late January of this year, once the contract was signed with the EPMA. The installation of these solar power plants is not the first result of Solet Technics’ cooperation with “THE OHM ENERGY”. A total of three projects have already been implemented in Armenia involving the installation of solar power plants for different communities. At the same time, these projects are aimed at developing bilateral cooperation.
