On November 15, Yerevan will host the Silicon Mountains 2024 technology summit dedicated to the application and challenges of artificial intelligence in the economy. This year, Ucom acts as a platinum partner of the summit.
During the press conference, Armen Baldryan, President of the Union of Employers of ICT that is the main organizer of the event, Eduard Musayelyan, Executive Director of the Union of Employers of ICT, Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom, and Ruben Simonyan, RA Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry, shared insights about the organization and goals of the summit.
“The Silicon Mountains summit addressed the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) back in 2019. At that time, AI was seen as a distant, almost unattainable technology. However, today it is already part of our lives, and its widespread adoption will become a reality within just a few years. The impact of AI will be significant, especially in industry, management, and education. High-tech sectors, including AI, will play a crucial role in shaping the country's economy and daily life in the years to come. The companies and nations leading technological progress will gain a competitive advantage globally. Human capital and talent will be key factor to success”, said Armen Baldryan in his welcoming speech.
“In this digital age, it is crucial to keep up with all the latest innovations and trends. I believe that events like these are essential; they allow us to exchange experiences, share ideas, and establish new connections. Ucom, as a company operating in the telecommunications sector with direct ties to high technology, is pleased to support and participate in such initiatives,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.
“To foster scientific and technological progress in Armenia, the government prioritizes research and development (R&D). Recent legislative changes, including the revision of tax incentives for R&D, aim to harness the benefits of AI while also addressing the associated risks. Success will come to those scientists, researchers, and organizations that can effectively leverage AI tools, as well as to governments that utilize AI opportunities while implementing countermeasures to mitigate its risks,” said Ruben Simonyan, RA Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry.
“We are organizing the Silicon Mountains technology summit for the seventh time. Each year, we select a topic that is both relevant and challenging, yet engaging for everyone. Today, everyone is discussing artificial intelligence, its implications, and its impact. We have invited experts from diverse fields to share their experiences and insights on how AI investments can influence the economy and education. We are confident that it will be a very engaging and insightful day, followed by B2B meetings with our experts the next day. We warmly invite everyone to join us,” said Eduard Musayelyan, Executive Director of the Union of Employers of ICT.
The 3 speeches and 3 panel discussions of the Silicon Mountains technology summit will be dedicated to the following topics: Industry.ai, Invest.ai and Impact.ai.
The special guests of the event will be Narayana Murthy, founder of Infosys, winner of the RA State Prize 2023 and Sasha Ahne director of SIEMENS EDA operating in Central and Northern Europe.
The summit’s innovative partner is the USAID "Economic Foundations for a Resilient Armenia" program. Thanks to it during the event, B2B format meetings will be organized for the private sector to promote the application of high technologies in the fields of agriculture and tourism and to facilitate the establishment of new business connections.
The event is also supported by the RA Ministry of High-Tech Industry. Partners include EasyPay, Visa, Synopsys, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Staffmedia.
