RA OMBUDSMAN ASKS PROSECUTOR GENERAL TO DISCUSS ISSUE OF
CHANGING PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE FOR MYASNIK MALKHASIAN

YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, NOYAN TAPAN. The working group, which
was set up by instructions of the RA Ombudman Armen Harutyunian,
on July 29 went to Yerevan-Kentron penitentiary where it met
with the penitentiary head and inquired about health of Myasnik
Malkhasian. The penitentiary head said that due to poor health
of M. Myasnikian, medical advisor of penitentiaries Khanamirian
was invited. After examining Malkhasian, he said the content of
sugar in the blood of the National Assembly deputy under arrest
exceeds the norm.
Then the group members met with M. Malkhasian who told them
that he suffers from regular blood fluctuations, headaches,
nausea, and has problems caused by cold. In his words, at the
invitation of relatives, chief endocrinologist of "Armenia"
medical center examined him and recommended that M. Malkhasian
should receive in-patient treatment which is impossible in
conditions of Yerevan-Kentron penitentiary.
NT was informed by the Information and PR Unit of the RA
Ombudsman Staff that in accordance with the RA Law on Ombudsman,
A. Harutyunian applied to the RA prosecutor general Aghvan
Hovsepian with the request to discuss the issue of either
replacing arrest by other precautionary measure for M.
Malkhasian or allowing him to receive in-patient treatment.
