YEREVAN, JUNE 3, NOYAN TAPAN. A joint sitting of the executive committee of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia (NOCA) and the headquarters on coordination of the national teams' preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics was held in Yerevan on June 3. The sitting was conducted by the NOCA president Gagik Tsarukian. A ceremony of giving awards to Armenian sportsmen who won medals at European championships in the first half of 2008 took place at the beginning of the sitting. G. Tsarukian handed cash prizes to 20 sportsmen and coaches of weightlifting, Greco-Roman wrestling and taekwondo. The vice president of the NOCA, chief commissioner of Armenia's sport delegation Derenik Gabrielian and the NOCA vice president Razmik Stepanian made reports on the course of the national olympic teams' preparation. It was stated that the work is proceeding well, and the problems related to participation of Armenian sportsemen in Olympics have received solution.
