YEREVAN, JUNE 3, NOYAN TAPAN. Armenian Railway company was passed to South-Caucasian Railways for concession management on June 1. The RA minister of transport and communication Gurgen Sargsian stated at the June 3 press conference that the manager intends to import 3 electric locomotives soon. He called the construction of Iran-Armenia railway, which will take 7 years "a pure intention". According to him, discussions on this issue were conducted with representatives of the respective departments of Iran and Russia, and with the European Bank. According to studies done 5 years ago, previously construction of this railway would require about 1 billion dollars, whereas now this amount has doubled because of a growth in building material prices. Speaking about the international tender for a third mobile phone communication operator in Armenia, G. Sargsian said that the tender will be held in the near future and its results will be summarized within 90 days. The winner company will start opearting in six months after the tender.
