It has snowed in Brazil much to the surprise of local residents and weather forecasters. Subzero temperatures and icy rain have turned the streets of the Santa Catarina state into quite a skating rink. Several schools have been closed in the southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sol. But the weather is not deterring locals and tourists. Thousands are outdoors to enjoy their first snowfall, as well as crystal-like branches of ice-covered trees.
