YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 26, NOYAN TAPAN. In late 2007 the number of the RA population made 3m 229.9 thousand people growing by 7 thousand against the beginning of the year. Stepan Mnatsakanian, the Head of the RA National Statistical Service, said this at the February 26 press conference. According to his data, a growth of the absolute number of birthes was recorded in 2007 (40 thousand 142 birthes were recorded in 2007 against 37 thousand 639 birthes in 2006) and the total coefficient of birth rate per 1000 people made 12.4 promiles against 11.7 promiles of 2006. The total coefficient of death rate decreased by 0.1 promiles (27 thousand 4 cases of death were recorded in 2007 against 27 thousand 202 in 2006) and made 8.4 promiles. 6 cases of maternal death were recorded in 2007 against 10 cases in 2006. It was mentioned that cases of death in the first year of life made 429 in 2007 and decreased by 94 against 2006 and the child death coefficient made 10.7 promiles against 13.9 promiles in 2006 (per 1000 live born children). According to S. Mnatsakanian, the number of marriages recorded in 2007 increased by 7.4% against 2006 and made 18 thousand 145 and the number of divorces by 4.8 and made 2 thousand 931 (162 divorces were recorded in 2007 against 1000 marriages and 166 divorces in 2006 against 166).
