20 RURAL OUT-PATIENT'S DEPARTMENTS TO BE BUILT IN ARMENIA
BY SECOND STAGE OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEM MODERNIZATION PROGRAM

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, NOYAN TAPAN. According to the
2003-2008 strategy of primary health protection of RA
population, Armenia needs 1500-2000 family doctors. Development
of family medicine is one of the important components of the
credit program of healthcare system modernization costing
25.5m dollars. 7.1m dollars will be allocated for that purpose
by the agreement signed by the RA government and the World Bank
in 2004.
540 doctors and 530 nurses have passed retraining since
2004 up to present. As Noyan Tapan correspondent was informed by
Yervand Elibekian, the Coordinator of the Family Medicine
Development Component of the Office of Healthcare Programs
Implementation, the majority of specialists having passed
retraining works at medical offices, rural out-patient's
departments, and town polyclinics. It was also mentioned that 30
rural out-patient's departments will be repaired and 20 will be
built by the program's second stage having launched lately.
