PAPER PAYMENTS BY ARMENIAN BANKS GROW 1.3FOLD IN THIRD
QUARTER OF 2007 ON SAME PERIOD OF 2006

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 13, NOYAN APAN. The paper payments by the
Armenian banks in the third quarter of 2007 made up 13.6% of
the total amount of their payments and 0.37% of the total number
(their amount grew 1.3fold on the same period of 2006, while
their number remained almost the same).
According to the press service of the Central Bank of
Armenia (CBA), the average daily number of paper payments by the
CBA made 170 payments of the amount of 5.3 bln drams (over 15
mln 688 thousand USD) - the average daily amount of transfers
grew by 3 bln drams on the third quarter of 2006, while the
average amount of a paper transfer grew by about 16 mln drams on
the third quarter of 2006 and made 31.3 mln drams. The growth of
paper transfers is mainly conditioned by repo and counter-repo
operations. 23 paper transfers of 8.9 bln drams were made
between commercial banks in the third quarter of 2007.
