Gibrahayer e-magazine - A 1.300.000 euros compensation was awarded by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) as compensation, for material and moral damages, to Costas Kalisperas, who had turned against Turkey, together with 28 Greek-Cypriots. All of them won the case on 22 September 2009, on the grounds that they have been deprived of their houses and properties after the 1974 Turkish invasion. With its decision, the ECHR delivers justice to the case "Loizou and others Vs Turkey", who went to the Court, convicting Turkey for the violation of the right of respect for private and family life and home, as well as for the violation of the right of ownership protection. With its present decision, which also set the amount that Turkey must pay to the complainants, Turkey is obliged to pay and additional 15.000 euros, for legal expenses.
