INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO 100th ANNIVERSARY OF
ACADEMICIAN HRACHIA BUNIATIAN HELD IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, NOYAN TAPAN. The international
conference "The Modern Problems of Neurochemistry and
Neuroimmunology" which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of
academician Hrachia Buniatian started its work in Yerevan on
September 24. About 100 experts from Germany, Norway, the US and
Armenia are participating in the conference, which has been
organized by the Institute of Biochemistry after H. Buniatian of
the RA National Academy of Sciences and the Association of
Biochemists of Armenia.
According to Prof. Gevorg Gevorgian of the Institute of
Biochemistry, Hrachia Buniatian made an important contribution
to training of young scientists in Armenia and was the founder of
the Armenian school of biochemistry. The academician wrote more
than 250 scientific works and monographies.
It was noted in speeches that for many years H. Buniatian
headed the societies of Armenian physiologists, biochemists and
pharmacists. He took an avtive part in a number of international
congresses and conferences on biochemistry, delivered speeches
at numerous scientific centers abroad. Hrachia Buniatian was
among the world's 14 prominent scientists to be elected a member
of the International Society of Neurochemists.
