WASHINGTON, MAY 18, NOYAN TAPAN. World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz has announced about his resignation. The reason for his pre-term resignation became the scandal connected with WB President's name, according to which the latter had ungroundedly raised the salary of his girlfriend Shaha Riza, while he should have expressed his opinion to his subordinates about S. Riza's possible promotion and should have not decided everything on his own. This step by Wolfowitz was accepted as breach of bank rules and clauses of his contract. U.S. President George Bush accepted Paul Wolfowitz' resignation and expressed the hope that he will continue working at WB. Paul Wolfowitz who assumed the post of WB President in 2005 and had worked as U.S. Deputy Defence Minister before, will leave his post on June 30.
