Just after the parliamentary elections in Turkey, the Kurdish movement has intensified. It is noteworthy that this time the Kurds used forces in spite of the orders of their leader Abdullah Öcalan announced a year ago about the extension of the cease-fire. Daily reports of attacks and clashes show the explosive nature of the situation, which intensified by the events in Syria. The expert on the issues of the South Caucasus Victor Yakubyan thinks that it is difficult for Turkey to balance t between the Muslim world and the West, as it is clear that the U.S. tries to undermine Syria and increases pressure on Iran. From July 1in the south-eastern regions of Turkey where Kurds live the General Staff of the Army has announced a temporary military situation. According to the website of the General Staff, a three-month martial law also includes a curfew on the residents of these regions. The decision was made due to the fact that in Tunjeli province fierce fighting began between the army and thrillers of the Kurdistan Workers' Party.
