YEREVAN, MARCH 16, NOYAN TAPAN. In the recent months, about
400 users of the Internet via phone received bills from ArmeTel
for international calls which were not made actually. Abgar
Yeghoyan, Chairman of the "Consumer Rights Protection" NGO, told
this to NT correspondent, reminding that in May 2006, bills of
about 400 users were recognized as invalis by court decision.
In his words, the reason why such cases take place again is
that ArmenTel has not informed properly its subscribers using
Internet via phone to code their computers to avoid illegal
phone connections. Such cases happen when after use of some
websites, the international phone call program is connected.
A. Yeghoyan said that Consumer Rights Protection NGO has
proposed 8 providers that they should include a warning point
with description of coding in all agreements signed with
subscribers using Internet services, as well as in payment
cards. According to A. Yeghoyan, Arminco company has already
expressed such willingness and is going to publish a poster with
the respective warning. "Consumer Rights Protection" NGO in its
turn is trying to collect money for printing such warning
posters.
