YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 14, NOYAN TAPAN. Under RA President Robert Kocharian's February 13 degree, Major-General Sedrak Saroyan was relieved of the post of Commander of RA Defence Ministry's 4th army corps. Noyan Tapan was informed about it from RA President's Press Office. According to information received from reliable sources, S. Saroyan has handed in an application on resigning for the purpose of nominating his candidature by majoritarian system at the parliamentary elections to be held on May 12. He is likely to nominate his candidature in the town of Martuni, Gegharkunik marz. To recap, S. Saroyan is the second high-ranking official to express willingness to leave RA Defence Ministry for the purpose of running for the parliamentary elections. Deputy Defence Minister, Lieutenant-General Artur Aghabekian had earlier expressed willingness to resign and to be included in the ARFD proportional list.
