ARMENIAN CONSUMER MARKET GROWS BY 16.1% IN JANUARY-OCTOBER
2006 ON SAME MONTHS OF LAST YEAR

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 7, NOYAN TAPAN. In January-October 2006,
the Armenian consumer market amounted to 1 trillion 195 billion
307.4 million drams (over 2 bln 811.3 mln USD), exceeding by
16.1% the index of the same months of last year (at comparable
prices).
According to the RA National Statistical Service, trade
turnover made 812 bln 537.4 mln drams, growing by 14% on the
first ten months of 2005. In the period under review, trade
turnover accounted for 68% of the consumer market against 69.8%
in January-October 2005.
Car trade, including specialized trade in cars and their
spare parts, as well as their servicing and repairs, made 55 bln
945.8 mln drams, exceeding by 39% the respective index of last
year. Car trade accounted for 4.7% of the consumer market
against 3.8% in January-October 2005.
Retail trade amounted to 607 bln 577 mln drams in
January-October 2006, growing by 10.3% on the same period of
last year. Retail trade accounted for 50.8% of the consumer
market against 54% in January-October 2005.
Services made 382 bln 770 mln drams in the first ten months
of 2006, growing by 22.5% on the same period of last year.
Services accounted for 32% of the country's consumer market
against 30.2% in January-October of last year.
