YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 10, NOYAN TAPAN. The jubilee concert of the "Speghani" (consolation) choir, a laureate of international competitions, will take place on November 13 at the Komitas Chamber Music House of Yerevan. As Sarina Avtandilian, the artistic head and choir-master stated at the November 10 press conference, the concert is jubilee one: it is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the choir. Children of freedom-fighters died in the Artsakh war are involved in the "Speghani" choir. Models of Armenian spiritual music of the Middle Ages, works of Komitas, Makar Yekmalian as well as of modern Armenian and foreign composers are involved in the repertoire of the 30-person choir. S.Avtandalian mentioned that "Speghani" was awarded in 2004 the 2nd prize of the authoritative competition of choral music held in the city of Arezzo, Italy. And during the competition held in Switzerland this year, "Speghani" was involved in the 12 choirs which will take part in the European Youth Choirs Festival to be held in Basel (Switzerland) in 2007. S.Avtandilian also mentioned that the choir will perform Komitas' "Liturgy" in some churches of Switzerland. "Speghani" will also leave for Germany the next year to participate in the competition of chamber choirs. In S.Avtandilian's words, the choir will perform in churches of Germany the Armenian spiritual music of the Middle Ages and works of Komitas.
