JUBILEE CONCERT OF "SPEGHANI" CHOIR TO TAKE PLACE IN
YEREVAN ON NOVEMBER 13

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 10, NOYAN TAPAN. The jubilee concert of
the "Speghani" (consolation) choir, a laureate of international
competitions, will take place on November 13 at the Komitas
Chamber Music House of Yerevan. As Sarina Avtandilian, the
artistic head and choir-master stated at the November 10 press
conference, the concert is jubilee one: it is dedicated to the
10th anniversary of the choir.
Children of freedom-fighters died in the Artsakh war are
involved in the "Speghani" choir. Models of Armenian spiritual
music of the Middle Ages, works of Komitas, Makar Yekmalian as
well as of modern Armenian and foreign composers are involved in
the repertoire of the 30-person choir.
S.Avtandalian mentioned that "Speghani" was awarded in 2004
the 2nd prize of the authoritative competition of choral music
held in the city of Arezzo, Italy. And during the competition
held in Switzerland this year, "Speghani" was involved in the 12
choirs which will take part in the European Youth Choirs
Festival to be held in Basel (Switzerland) in 2007.
S.Avtandilian also mentioned that the choir will perform
Komitas' "Liturgy" in some churches of Switzerland.
"Speghani" will also leave for Germany the next year to
participate in the competition of chamber choirs. In
S.Avtandilian's words, the choir will perform in churches of
Germany the Armenian spiritual music of the Middle Ages and
works of Komitas.
