YEREVAN, OCTOBER 3, NOYAN TAPAN. Demand for room and garden decorative plants grows year by year in Armenia. As Stepan Safarian, Commercial Director of the Mama Flora gardening center, said in his interview to Noyan Tapan correspondent, this is conditioned by improvement of people's social position. In his words, plants put on sale by the center, the minimum and maximum prices for which are 1.2 thousand and 72 thousand drams (about 180 USD), respectively, are mainly imported from Holland, Turkey, China and a number of other countries. The fluctuations of plants' prices have seasonal character. It was also mentioned that part of plants' flowerpots is imported from abroad and another part is bought from local manufacturers. In S.Safarian's words, the Mama Flora gardening center tries to grow some tropical plants in Armenia. Though the room and garden decorative plants grown at the center are not cheaper than the imported ones, for the present, they are inferior to the imported plants with their quality. Mama Flora gardening center has been working for about 10 years. First it made part of the Brabion Flora Service and now it works independently.
